Tragedy as boy, 7, dies in water park pool while pregnant mum pops to toilet

A seven-year-old boy tragically died in a swimming pool at a water park while his expectant mum used the toilet. Eyewitnesses reported that Bryan Henrique de Souza de Barros was discovered unconscious in the pool and hauled out of the water by a female visitor.
A firefighter on duty at the water park swiftly administered first aid, before Bryan was rushed to an urgent care unit where he sadly passed away. The heartbreaking incident occurred at Olinda Via Park in Olinda, Brazil, on Saturday (25 July) afternoon, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Bryan’s family claimed that although the pool seemed shallow, it actually plunged to depths of over 1.6m (5ft 3in) in some areas. They further alleged there were no signs indicating the depth of the pool or restricting children’s access.

Bryan’s great-uncle, police commissioner José da Silva, told local press that the boy’s parents and grandparents “are too distraught to speak at the moment.
“But we’ll investigate, because someone was negligent.”
The drowning took place while Bryan’s mother, Emilly, who is nine weeks pregnant with her second child, had popped to the toilet.
“He was a happy, lively little boy. He loved playing with all of us,” José said. “We were a very close family.”
In response to the tragedy, Olinda Via Park announced it had indefinitely suspended operations.
The park stated it remained in touch with Bryan’s family to offer support and assistance and was fully cooperating with authorities investigating the incident.

Bryan was laid to rest at Santo Amaro Cemetery in Recife yesterday (26 July).
José stated: “My family is devastated, but I’m going to investigate so we can get some answers, because this can’t just be left like this.”
