Chelsea make approach to sign Real Madrid star after £68m bid rejected | Football

Chelsea are considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga after having three bids for Alex Scott rejected by Bournemouth.

Xabi Alonso has identified Scott, 23, as his top target to replace Enzo Fernandez if the Argentine leaves Stamford Bridge in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Fernandez made it clear at the start of the summer that he wanted to leave west London but a dream move to Real Madrid fell through.

The 25-year-old, who was sent off in Argentina’s World Cup final defeat to Spain, could yet be on the move, however, amid interest from Manchester City and his former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

Man City are set to spend £86m on Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi but that lucrative deal has not deterred them from pursuing Fernandez.

Maresca wants another midfielder to arrive at the Etihad Stadium after losing Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who joined Barcelona in a deal worth £65m.

Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Fernandez and have told interested clubs that he is valued at an eye-watering £120m.

But the Blues have been making plans in case Fernandez does secure a late summer move, with Scott a top target.

Scott has been linked with a number of top Premier League clubs this summer after another impressive season at Bournemouth.

Chelsea were known to have made a £62m bid for Scott last month but The i Paper say Bournemouth have received two more offers from the same club, the highest worth £68m.

All three bids were rejected by Bournemouth, who informed Chelsea that Scott would not be sold before the transfer deadline.

But Scott is just one of several midfielders on Chelsea’s watchlist, according to talkSPORT, along with Camavinga, Adam Wharton and Manu Kone.

Camavinga has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid since Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the Bernabeu, with Manchester United interested in a deal before they signed Carlos Baleba from Brighton.

Wharton and Kone, meanwhile, are of interest to a number of clubs following their exploits for Crystal Palace and Roma respectively.

Fernandez came on as a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Fulham on Monday night.

The Blues edged out their west London rivals in a five-goal thriller, with Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scoring the goals in Alonso’s first Premier League game in charge.

Chelsea face League One side Luton Town in the EFL Cup on Thursday night before returning to Premier League action against Brighton on Sunday.
