Marcel Desailly tells Chelsea to sign Arsenal target after confirming £65m deal | Football

Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has urged the club to take another run at signing Victor Osimhen before the summer transfer window closes.
Joao Pedro picked up from where he left off last season with a superb display leading the Blues attack against Fulham, getting on the score sheet in a 3-2 win in their opening game of the campaign on Monday.
Danny Welbeck has also been brought in to provide another option up top with Liam Delap leaving the club after just one season to join Nottingham Forest.
Nicolas Jackson meanwhile has joined Aston Villa in a £65million deal while RB Leipzig are in talks to sign Marc Guiu.

Chelsea were close to signing Osimhen two summers ago when he was still at Napoli only for the move to fall apart at the last minute. He instead joined Galatasaray where he has spent the last two seasons.
Arsenal have explored a move for the Nigeria international in recent weeks with the Gunners still eager to recruit another centre forward.
The Nigeria international is reportedly still open to a move to the Premier League with legend Desailly believing Chelsea still ‘need that kind of player.’

‘Osimhen, absolutely. He brings spirit and respect, strong respect from opponents and from his teammates,’ Desailly told Metro via SportsCasting.
‘He can be a bit unpredictable sometimes, but you need that kind of player who can justify his stature and his behaviour through performance, but also through a bit of controversy. He’s strong, and he can bring that spirit to Chelsea.

‘As for Jackson, he’s gone to Aston Villa now. Honestly, I would have brought in a proper number-nine type striker. The problem is there aren’t many strikers out there who could help Chelsea in the long run.’
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they host Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
