Zack Nelson Subjects Trump Mobile T1 to Durability Tests Confirming Identical HTC Origins

Zack Nelson finally got his hands on a Trump Mobile T1 and put it through the same series of physical stress tests that have become his signature for years. Right from the start the phone lined up with an HTC U24 Pro he already owned, matching in overall size, the angled metal frame contour, the placement of the power and volume buttons, the notification light, the USB-C port, the headphone jack, and the microSD card slot.
The 6.78-inch curved display has the same resolution and 120Hz refresh rate as the 2024 HTC. The back has the same setup as the 2024 HTC model, with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide. Even small elements, such as the form of the camera island and the bottom speaker grilles, remained unchanged. Scratch testing went just as you would expect. He used a Mohs pick to leave the first visible markings on the glass at level 6, followed by slightly deeper grooves at level 7. He achieved the same outcome on the HTC U24 Pro test, and the aluminum frame held its own against the blade.

As expected, the plastic back panel took markings easily, as did the bright school-bus yellow paint, which seems metallic in direct sunlight but not otherwise. Nelson next bent the phone, applying pressure from all sides, and to no surprise, the phone remained intact, with no lasting kinks and no cracks in the glass or plastic back. The same aluminum rails that worked on the U24 Pro are used here.

Opening it up revealed that it was even more true than the outside. The amount of screws, their positioning, the motherboard and battery, and even the motherboard serial number were all the same. The water damage sticker on the board was still white, indicating that the phone had not been submerged when he pulled it out of the box.

After that, Nelson removed the main board from the Trump Mobile T1 and replaced it with the HTC board. Then he popped the HTC board into the T1, and the T1 board into the HTC, and everything worked perfectly. It was quite clear that the two smartphones were created on the same platform and from the same supplier. One other item stood out to him: the American flag picture on the rear panel had just eleven stripes, not 13, which is a bit of a federal no-no.

Coupled with all those identical components, matching durability statistics, and a successful board swap, there was little doubt that the phone was made or designed in the United States. What we actually received was an HTC U24 Pro with a layer of yellow paint on top, with all of the same excellent qualities and drawbacks Nelson had mentioned on the original device back in 2022.
