Influencer who made underwear out of dead rats slammed for ‘disrespecting corpses’

An Australian influencer has been slammed for making and selling underwear for women made from the taxidermized bodies of dead rats, although said that “normies” did not understand the process

A taxidermist turned influencer has shocked her customers by releasing a line of unique women’s underwear made out the stuffed bodies of dead rodents.

The rat panties are the creation of the unique influencer Rat Gizzard, who used her taxidermy skills to fashion the bodies of dead rats into lacy pairs of pants, before selling them online for around £100 a pop.

Australian Rat Gizzard, whose viral taxidermy stunts have earned her more than 20,000 followers online, claims that the creatures she uses are always “responsibly sourced” and that she is always “transparent” about “the welfare and husbandry of our animals“.

Somewhat disgustingly, Rat Gizzard says that her creations “cannot be washed” as “it will ruin the pelt and insides of the head”.

She explains on her Instagram: “If they are being worn for any reason, wearing a panty liner on the inside of the underwear to keep them clean is recommended.”

“If they ever need to be cleaned, it is recommended to use a damp cloth to wipe them all over”.

While the creepy knickers are wearable, Rat Gizzard recommends displaying them as a piece of art instead, by hanging a pair “on a clothes hanger”.

Rat Gizzard, whose creations also include lamps and lighters made from dead rodent pelts, as well as a bizarre taxidermized dog head, has come under fire for using the bodies of real animals in her work, but is adamant that she does what she can to make the practice as ethical as possible.

She explained on her Instagram: “Our rats are responsibly sourced from a dedicated Australian-owned and operated farm on the Sunshine Coast, who hand picks and delivers them to us as “frozen pet food”.

“They are a highly reputable supplier to pet owners and zoos around Australia. We choose them because we appreciate . . . the way they are humanely processed with respect, following strict ethical and biosecurity standards.”

However, some commentators were less than convinced.

One user wrote: “I respect your art work, but this is not humanely sourced. [that] would be an already dead rat who you would find. You are still supporting killing just to disrespect the corpse on underwear.”

Responding to the comments, Rat Gizzard replied: “I have to buy these rats regardless. I have eight pets that feed on them.

Hence why I have searched around for a pet food supplier that is better than the rest.

“The plan was not for my algorithm to push this out to all the normies of the world who will happily support true animal cruelty via their beauty products.”
