Animal sanctuary where asylum seeker ‘raped 5 goats and lamb’ reveals costs of sick acts
WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: The animal sanctuary has revealed the cost of the actions of a 19-year-old asylum seeker, originally from Afghanistan, who sexually assaulted five goats and a lamb
The French animal sanctuary whose animals were victim to “unspeakable cruelty” from a 19-year-old asylum seeker have revealed the true costs of his sick crimes.
The asylum seeker, who was born in Afghanistan, was sentenced to prison after he “raped” six animals, resulting in one dying from its injuries at Le Refuge d’un Moment animal sanctuary and educational farm in Pennes-Mirabeau, near Marseille.
Known only as Massoud S, the twisted individual was found guilty on charges of sexual assault and serious abuse of five goats, one of which died from their injuries, and a six-month-old lamb.
His abuse on the animals went on from February to April this year and saw animals suffer horrific injuries from being tied by their legs, gagged and some left with their vulvas bleeding.
Now the owner of the animal sanctuary Cassandra Sortino has revealed the veterinarian costs they have faced for what she called “barbaric acts” to their animals.
Le Refuge d’un Moment set up a fundraising campaign to help them cover their legal fees and the costs for care and protection of the animals concerned.
Sortino posted a bill from the vets for treatment of the animals with a figure of €1,800 (£1,550). However, it is unknown if that is the only bill and other fees were not disclosed. So far, over €1,600 (£1,379) has been raised with no target listid on the fundraising campaign.
Writing on the page in April, which you can donate to here, she wrote: “Today we are launching this fundraiser to support the steps related to legal proceedings concerning serious acts of animal abuse.
“This situation involves extremely shocking and unacceptable facts, which require legal support, expert assessments, and significant costs to ensure that justice is served and that such acts do not go unpunished. The funds raised will be used to cover legal fees, administrative procedures, as well as the costs related to the care and protection of the animals concerned.
Every contribution, however small, is valuable. It will help move this process forward and defend an essential cause: the respect and protection of living beings. Thank you to all those who will take part in this show of solidarity.”
Suspicions of Massoud S were raised in February after staff noticed animals with traces of rope marks on the legs, injuries to their vulvas and traces of blood, reports French publication 20minutes.
The incidents prompted CCTV to be specfically set up around those animals that had been injured and managed to capture a man’s silhouette several times with abuse found the next day. The evidence was taken to police on a number of occasions.
Eventually, Police managed to catch Massoud S wearing latex gloves with his pants down while in the act behind a goat.
During the trial, Massoud S continued to deny the charges despite DNA evidence being found and police arresting him during the sickening act. He told the court “I’m a normal person.”
It took only an hour deliberation before he was sentenced to 30 months in jail at Aix-en-Provence courthouse. He was given banned from French territory and registered in the file of perpetrators of sexual and violent offenses.
