Anthony Joshua survives scare against Kristian Prenga to set up Tyson Fury fight

Anthony Joshua survived a huge scare to beat Kristian Prenga with an impressive second-round knockout victory in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua, who was fighting for the first time since his car crash in December which claimed the lives of his two close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, was knocked down twice by Prenga in the opening round.

The crowd in Jeddah were stunned as Prenga caught Joshua with a sharp uppercut inside the opening 20 seconds.

Joshua was down for a second time as his gloves touched the canvas but was able to survive until the bell.

The 36-year-old then came out flying in the second round and floored Prenga with a huge three-punch combination which finished with a devastating right hand.

Joshua’s victory has now set up a fight against Tyson Fury in November.

On Friday, Fury beat Mariusz Wach in seven rounds in a non-televised fight in Thailand.

In a message to Fury after his victory, Joshua said: ‘You have to have that vim as a fighter but also respect.

‘I respect everything he has done and achieved but as a someone who has been calling for this fight for some time, it is here now.

‘I hope the fans will be in for a lovely treat.’

Joshua was also visibly upset at the mention of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, who died in the car crash in Nigeria.

‘That was Latz, that was Sina,’ Joshua said when asked how he recovered from such a poor start against Prenga.
