Argentina fans told by Spanish pilot they had won World Cup in cruel landing prank

A group of Argentina fans fell victim to a Spanish pilot’s cruel prank after he told them all their team had won the World Cup.

The plane erupted in wild celebrations after some Argentinian passengers mistakenly believed the pilot, who chose to deliver his nation’s victory news after first giving the opposition fans some false hope.

Passengers donning Argentina football tops jumped from their seats and erupt into cheers when the news was announced on the PA system – but they had no idea at what was to come next.

Booking flights in advance, they would have been left gutted as they were unable to watch the game live due to being in the air, putting their trust in the pilot to tell them the result in world football’s biggest match.

He announced over the intercom that Argentina had taken the victory. The wild celebrations were cut shor, however, as the pilot revealed it was a joke and that Spain had actually won the World Cup.

The passengers at that point had no idea how the game had panned out, with the domination of their team, a red card and an extra-time goal for Spain.

The cheers were quickly replaced by a stark silence as Argentina fans on board were left devastated. The joke was undoubtedly a risky move from the pilot as the result led to chaos on and off the pitch, with players scrapping and Argentinians protesting on the streets.

It is believed, however, that luckily for him there was no disorder on the plane.
