A 15 year old lad has been detained following allegations he kidnapped a 17 year old girl from outside her school in south-east Melbourne.
The teenager had been entering Keysborough Secondary College’s Banksia Campus in Springvale South at approximately 8.30am on Friday when the boy confronted her. “The male allegedly forced the girl into a vehicle which fled the scene,” a police statement revealed.
Officers raced to the location where the 15 year old lad, from Wyndham, was apprehended at around midday roughly an hour’s drive from the school. He has subsequently been charged with abduction and will face court on Saturday.
The reason behind the alleged kidnapping remains unclear.
The girl was transported to hospital in a stable condition. Police believe the pair know each other, reports the Mirror.
A Victoria Police spokesman said: “Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a teenage boy following an alleged abduction in Springvale South yesterday. Investigators allege a 17-year-old girl was entering a secondary college on Janine Road when she was approached by a male about 8.30am.
“The male allegedly forced the girl into a vehicle which fled the scene. Officers from the Special Operations Group later arrested the 15-year-old boy from the Wyndham area on Jezebel Way in Tarneit about 12pm.
“The girl was transported to hospital. The boy has since been charged with abduction and will appear before court later today. It is believed the parties were known to one another,”.
