Knicks finals ticket prices blow past the Super Bowl as Madison Square Garden goes into full-blown mania

NBA Finals fever has sent ticket prices through the roof, with fans shelling out more than $4,000 just to get through the doors of Madison Square Garden for the Knicks’ first Finals game in 27 years.

After briefly cooling off, prices have surged again as desperate fans scramble for seats and supply dries up. The cheapest ticket for Game 3 is now hovering near $4,000, while a potential Game 6 at MSG could cost more than $5,300 just to get in.

Among those in attendance could be President Donald Trump, a noted Knicks fan, after he claimed the team’s owner, James Dolan, was among those to invite him to attend a game.

Meanwhile, prices in San Antonio have crashed, with tickets for the opening games of the series falling by nearly 50% after an initial frenzy following the Spurs’ Western Conference Finals victory. Industry experts say sky-high travel costs are keeping many Knicks fans from making the trip.

If prices hold, Knicks Finals tickets will be more expensive than seats at each of the last two Super Bowls — a staggering benchmark that underscores just how wild demand has become.

The scarcity is being fueled in part by the Knicks’ efforts to keep tickets in the hands of real fans rather than professional resellers. Add in the buzz surrounding rising superstar Victor Wembanyama and one of basketball’s most iconic franchises returning to the sport’s biggest stage, and the result is a perfect storm of ticket mania.

Outside of the World Cup and Stanley Cup Final, no sporting event this year comes close. Even UFC 329, featuring Conor McGregor’s blockbuster return, has a get-in price of just $1,432 — less than half the cost of a seat at Madison Square Garden.
