Spider-Man Finally Gets the Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 After a Box of Shattered Screens and One Fabricator

Peter Parker keeps smashing phones, and that simple truth is at the heart of Samsung’s latest promotional video for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a nearly 100-second teaser that does more than just showcase next week’s foldables. It tells a brief, self-contained story of how the web slinger finds up having a Galaxy Z Flip 8 in his pocket.
The action begins in what looks to be Peter’s apartment. A soft-spoken AI voice greets him, noting the considerable damage, fractures and dents here and there, another difficult day, another phone lying in pieces. The camera lingers on a cardboard box that is already filled with damaged and battered equipment. Every scrap he’s been in has resulted in another phone in that box. The AI comes up with a solution, redirecting resources, uploading schematics, and starting the fabricator for good measure. You can see the little nanobots or whatever technology Samsung has been experimenting with begin to manufacture a device right there on the workbench.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8, as the voice defines it simply, is a flip phone with AI smarts that is ideal for on-the-go communication. We get our first glimpse at the phone in its full, official Samsung magnificence. Not long after, the same fabricator produces a second device. They name this one “the new kid on the block,” and it appears to be designed for staying in touch with Detective DeWolff, the NYPD detective who partners up with Spider-Man in the film. The second phone is the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is mostly hidden from view behind some lens flare and soft focus, keeping it under wraps for the time being. When you close it, you can see that it is slightly shorter and wider than last year’s model, like a passport rather than a book.
Kasra Farahani, a production designer with numerous Marvel credits, directed the entire short film, making the apartment set and fabricator scenario appear frighteningly genuine rather than merely a polished commercial. The AI’s deadpan delivery and the short cut to “on your left” followed by a missing swing all contribute to the light tone. Even a small puppy has a wonderful moment, replicating the activity as the music builds.
It all points to a full announcement at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22nd, where you can expect to witness the Flip 8, Fold 8, and Fold 8 Ultra. Don’t get too excited, though, because this teaser isn’t attempting to be a full-on product announcement. It simply introduces these new devices into the Spidey universe, giving Peter a good excuse to stop destroying so many phones and therefore filling that box with cracked screens.
