Top tips on how to dominate in Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s new Season 4 update
Game maker Activison has given your Daily Star exclusive tips on how console owners can top the leaderboards when playing the new Season 4 update in Call of Duty Black Ops 7
Call of Duty fans have been getting their teeth into the latest drop of content in hit game Black Ops 7.
Season four is packed full of new things to do in the PS5 and Xbox console blockbuster.
The update brings a stack of fresh stuff to do across all three modes: new Multiplayer maps including Liminal (a map that physically reshapes mid-match) and Primetime (a Japanese game show obstacle course), plus the remastered Black Ops 2 classic Vertigo.
And our friends at maker Activision have offered exclusive top tips to Daily Star gamers to help you get ahead of rivals in this brilliant shooter…
Endgame: Operation Wall Breaker begins
The Intel: The story continues as Karma’s virus is finally ready to deploy against The Guild. Act III: Operation Wall Breaker, tasks you with scouring Avalon for Mapping Data to locate a hidden network hub, breach the firewall, and take down the Command Killer Glitch Fracture.
Top Tip: Pushing through the Glitch Fracture on nightmare difficulty is tough, but doing so to defeat the boss with 50/50, Razor, or Faulkner will earn you unique “Shatter Shock” operator skins and animated weapon camos. Assemble a well-coordinated squad before attempting the breach!
Operator Prestige offers ultimate power
The Intel: Season 04 introduces Operator Prestige for Endgame. By reaching prestige, you discard your equipped skills and field acquisitions, and your loadouts reset to their base rarity.
Top Tip: Don’t be afraid to wipe the slate clean. Starting a fresh levelling journey is worth the sacrifice; reaching Prestige 1 grants an extra exotic skill slot, Prestige 2 gives a nightmare skill slot, and Prestige 3 lets you equip a game-changing 4th skill track.
Fresh abilities and the Guardian Skill Track
The Intel: The devastating Death Machine major ability arrived at launch, offering high damage and a massive magazine capacity. Later in the mid-season, the defensive Guardian Skill Track and the hallucinogenic Psych Grenade minor ability will become available.
Top Tip: Once the mid-season hits, have at least one squad member run the Guardian Skill Track. The “Rescue Pulse” ability allows you to revive downed allies or be revived yourself by being in close proximity, which is an absolute lifesaver during chaotic firefights.
Dynamic and classic Multiplayer maps
The Intel: Three 6v6 maps are available now: a brand-new Japanese game show course called Primetime, the remastered Vertigo atop a massive skyscraper, and Liminal which is a Guild procedure room where the map physically alters mid-match.
Top Tip: Keep your eyes peeled on Liminal. The centre of the map is dictated by a patient’s agitation levels. If the subject panics, the pristine red pillar fractures into a crater, instantly throwing up fresh cover and completely changing the sightlines. Adapt your defence on the fly!
A Return to Multiplayer Basics
The Intel: Nostalgia reigns supreme with returning modes like Blueprint Gun Game and 6v6 Gunfight. However, the standout is the new Black Ops Classic moshpit mode, which features simplified movement and stripped-back loadouts on iconic throwback maps.
Top Tip: Leave your modern crutches at the door for Black Ops Classic. With overclock abilities and Perk Combat Specialty bonuses entirely restricted, you’ll need to rely on tactical positioning, raw gun skill, and solid fundamentals to secure the win.
Zombies: Hell’s Cosiest Cul-de-Sac
The Intel: Round-based survival takes a twisted turn with Nuked, a corrupted, “future” incarnation of the iconic Nuketown neighbourhood. It’s a highly confined map extending from the cul-de-sac out to Trinity Ave, filled with relentless undead and Rad-Hounds.
Top Tip: In such a tight space, mobility is limited. Prioritise scouring the map for the Pack-a-Punch machine, Wall Buys, and the Arsenal early on. Surviving to Round 50 nets you the “Time Out” GobbleGum, but you’ll need heavily upgraded firepower to get there.
Shape your path in Rogue Run
The Intel: Rogue Run is a brand-new, permanent roguelite twist on Round-Based Zombies. You start with a common pistol and must survive waves of fast-moving undead. After each round, you teleport to an arena to choose from three randomised rewards (weapons, perks, ammo mods, etc.).
Top Tip: Build your loadout smartly and don’t hesitate! You only have a limited time to choose your reward pedestal before it’s picked for you. Focus on completing playlist challenges and taking down High Value Targets (like Luci, Mal, and Mo) to earn permanent, cross-playlist upgrades for future runs.
Fortune’s Keep gets a refresh
The Intel: The fan-favourite Warzone Resurgence map is back. Fortune’s Keep has been updated to support Black Ops 7’s advanced movement mechanics. It features all the major Points of Interest (POIs) you remember, plus new micro POIs like the Sea Science Aquatic Laboratory and Capt. Bubby’s Chum Haus.
Top Tip: Looking for an early-game advantage? Drop onto the Research Vessel. It’s the only POI on the map with a UAV Tower, giving your squad incredible intel to track enemy movements before you push inland.
Massive 52v52 carnage in Verdansk
The Intel: The largescale Clash mode returns, throwing two teams of 52 Operators into a massive skirmish across nine Verdansk POIs, including Boneyard, Factory, and Airport.
Top Tip: Treat this like a giant tactical playground rather than just a Team Deathmatch. While eliminations earn you one point, you can guarantee a swift victory for your team by capturing Domination points (40 points) and completing Contracts (10 points). Pool your cash to buy the devastating VTOL warship!
Game-Changing Warzone gear
The Intel: Season 04 introduces new tactical items to shake up Warzone gameplay. The Shadowlink Contract provides a mobile satellite phone to access the Black Market on the go, whilst the Advanced Self Revive is a rare new item dropping in Resurgence.
Top Tip: The Advanced Self Revive is your ultimate ‘get out of jail free’ card. When activated, it grants a temporary active camo cloaking effect. Use this brief window of invisibility to crawl safely behind cover and re-plate your armour before the enemy squad can finish you off.
