Woman, 32, ‘gang-raped and drugged by five migrants’ in 72-hour ordeal

A 32-year-old Colombian woman was allegedly lured from outside a Rome restaurant and held captive in an abandoned building, where five men are charged with gang rape and drugging her over 72 hours

A female tourist was allegedly sexually assaulted and kidnapped by a group of migrants in a renowned European destination.

Authorities have confirmed that five suspects, aged between 29 and 43, face charges after the brutal ordeal that lasted 72 hours.

The victim, a 32-year-old Colombian woman, was reportedly approached by a man outside a restaurant in Rome, Italy, on Tuesday (May 19).

He allegedly persuaded her to accompany him under the pretence of purchasing hashish, a cannabis derivative, before leading her to a van.

The woman was subsequently transported to a derelict building on the city’s eastern periphery where she was allegedly imprisoned for three days, reports the Express.

It was here where she was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times by five men who also administered drugs and issued death threats.

According to the Daily Mail, the woman successfully fled the premises before being discovered semi-clothed on a pavement by a passing motorist. She was immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Police launched an immediate investigation and conducted a raid on the building where the assault occurred.

Five suspects have been detained and named by police. They are Saidykhan Lamin and Karamba Kanteh, two Gambians aged 29 and 38; Harouna Traore, a 43 year old from Mali; and Isibor Wisdom and Paul Nwabueze, two Nigerians aged 29 and 39.

The men face charges of gang rape, with aggravating circumstances due to exploiting the victim’s vulnerability.

They remain behind bars awaiting further proceedings. During the search of the premises on Via Tallone, police also identified 22 non-EU citizens with unlawful immigration status. The authorities reported that 11 of them were transported to pre-removal detention centres.

In the meantime, investigators are persisting in their hunt for three other individuals implicated in the assault.

These include the man who enticed the victim away from the restaurant, the individual who drove her to the building, and the owners of the derelict property.
