Apple TV 4K (2026) Gains Hands Free Siri AI and a Much Faster Processor

Apple released the fourth generation Apple TV 4K today, priced at $299 with the matching remote included. Preorders open immediately and the first units ship on November 13. The box now carries the A19 chip, which Apple says runs the processor roughly 50 percent faster and the graphics twice as fast as the A15 inside the 2022 model.
An internal AV1 decoder handles new streaming formats much more efficiently, due to a single configuration that includes a big 128GB of storage and an Ethernet interface. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 make their debuts, representing significant upgrades over prior wireless technologies. Not only that, but the new Apple TV has three far-field mics inside the enclosure, which means voice commands will operate without any interference from picking up the remote, even when the TV is playing in the background. The revised design now features a small white status light in the center of the front border.
Siri now transforms your television into a full-screen conversational tool, and it’s pretty interesting. Simply ask for the most recent Emmy-winning episodes, and you’ll get a swarm of poster art right immediately, followed by some related suggestions to keep the search going. Do you want to ask another question while something is already playing? No issue; simply ask another question in a little overlay that keeps the picture on screen.
They also have the intelligence to recognize personal requests such as ‘play the show Alinda recommended’ from a nearby iPhone or iPad running Apple Intelligence, as long as you’re in a compatible region. Of course, the same microphones can pick up ‘Hey Siri’ or ‘Siri’ even when the TV is playing music over the speakers, owing to some smart echo cancellation technology that isolates the voice. Language support is offered for English, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, and a few more languages (availability varies by region).

Sound pairing possibilities have also been significantly upgraded. You can now use four HomePod mini 2 units (or matching pairs of full-size HomePod speakers) to build a properly calibrated surround system. If I may say so myself, the speakers can detect their location in the room and automatically alter timing and volume to produce the greatest possible sound. Previous models only supported two speakers, so anyone with a few HomePods has a clear upgrade path ahead of them. As a home hub, the box may continue to display doorbell feeds, open doors, and conduct automations without interfering with your current viewing experience. There are also new camera recording alerts, with short AI-generated descriptions and summarized notifications appearing in the home app if you have an Apple Intelligence device and an applicable iCloud+ plan set up. Thread and Wi-Fi remain available for local accessory control.

The Siri Remote has also been updated, with the same basic shape but now including Find My Tracking (if you have a recent iPhone) and a small speaker that emits a tone if you forget the remote. The remote is still compatible with all Apple TV models since 2015, and it costs $59 if purchased separately. When it comes to privacy, the team has not forgotten, since microphone processing is now fully sealed away in segregated Secure Enclaves on the A19 chip, ensuring that your speech data remains completely distinct from the rest of the system.

Don’t panic if you already have a second- or third-generation Apple TV 4K; Siri AI will be added via a subsequent software update, even if some of the new capabilities, including as the new mics and four-speaker surround, are not included. Overall, for households who are already part of Apple’s ecosystem, the upgrades make a lot of sense because they are just tighter integration of speech, sound, and the screen, without the need to replace everything else.
